Trapped...

Live MTT, 10k chips to begin with, 30 minute levels, 6-handed.

Blinds 75/150.

VILLAIN (UTG+1) (12,000)
HERO (CO) (12,675)
SB (8,400)
BB (10,250)

UTG folds.
VILLAIN raises to 500.
HERO calls 500 with KdKs. {I flatted here in position hoping to trap an maybe induce a squeeze out of one of the blinds. I had a solid table image, but was involved in a fair amount of pots, all with good hands at the showdown.}
BUTTON folds.
SB calls.
BB calls.

Pot (2,000)
Flop Qs 9d 7s

SB checks.
BB checks.
UTG+1 bets 1,375.
HERO raises to 4,000.
SB folds.
BB folds.
UTG+1 calls 2,625. {Villain tanked for a while here. He's a fairly tight player, but knows how to loosen up a little for a 6-handed game. After a lot of thought, he just smooth called.}

Pot (10,000)
Turn Qs 9d 7s, 7h

VILLAIN checks.
HERO shoves for 7,500.
VILLAIN calls 6,825 and is all in.

VILLAIN shows AcAs.
HERO shows KdKs.

Villain is a good friend of mine that I am currently staking online and he is doing really well. We've talked about a lot of poker strategy and he's become a really solid player... maybe too solid. Nice hand Rich.

"Killer Poker Online" book review.

I finished reading some chapters from Killer Poker Online by John Vorhaus a few days ago. When I browsed the book before reading it, I only wanted to invest my time in a few chapters. Many of the other chapters would be a good read for beginning players, but not to someone who understands the game at a higher level.

The Data Management chapter outlines some good guidelines for how to manage your play data, statistics, and notes on opponents. I am an avid stat and note keeper, but this chapter really reinforced the guidelines someone should go by when diving into online poker.

The other four chapters that I read were Winning Tactics for Online Play, Online Tells, and Found Objects, and Tips. All of these chapters provide a nice, solid foundation of strategy and hints that will help to elevate your online game. A lot of the information here was repetitive to me, but as I have been going through a bad run, it was good to go back over some basic ideas and strategies.

The book was more of a general outline to some concepts and practices that one should stick to for online poker, but it lacked a lot of in depth tactics and strategy. There wasn't really any hand analysis I ran across. There wasn't any talk about how to play certain opponents or situations either. This is where I believe the book was really lacking and something that I believe any good poker book should have.
